VA Backlog Dropping Due To Technology, Automation

In fiscal year 2025, the VA processed 3 million compensation and pension claims. The VA is projected to do the same this year. So far, it has processed more than 1.5 million claims halfway through fiscal 2026.

Technological advances have enabled the VA to pull together the information required to support a veteran’s claim quickly and easily. While the claims backlog rose dramatically under the Biden administration, the VA is now processing a record number. This has reduced the backlog, allowing veterans to receive benefits sooner.
